Yoon-Suin: Session 1 Recap
Yoon-Suin: Session 1 Recap
We open on the Golden Melon Tea House, a popular gathering spot for adventuresome types who remember when the League of the Roads set up shop there. Our party thus far consists of:
Milo, a Halfling thief and secret member of the Sedated Dynasty, an organization of kidnappers, slavers, and sometimes murderers.
Gasthire, a handsome Elf fighter and follower of Fortuna, goddess of luck, fortune, and adventurers.
Knut, a Gnome cleric of Fortuna's sister Denara, goddess of wealth, trade, and bureaucracy. A temple/bank of Denara has recently opened in the Yellow City's dock district to act as a mission and serve foreign traders.
Rumi, the only native, is a Slug magician from an opium family. Where his cousin, Luhagala, grows fat and complacent with the opium trade, Rumi yearns for adventure beyond the city's limits.
Business as usual was interrupted by the entrance of a Dhole Man... in armor, bearing a shield with a crest. Introducing himself as Redmane, the pitiful creature explained that his temple had been ransacked, and the reliquary looted. The decorated scabbard of his saintly hero had been stolen by Ók and his tribe of Axolotl Men. Redmane offered 400 gold pieces for the return of the scabbard, as well as salvage rights for whatever was found within the Axolotl lair.
The party gathered up rations and bedrolls, loaded everything onto their trusty mule, Mud, and set off on a four-day trek. On the second day, they encountered the long stretch of Dreaming Crabs on the beach, and figured out that the titanic sea creatures harassing them were simply illusions. In the waters nearby, they caught sight of a party of Locathah spying on them, afraid to swim closer to the crabs and their magic.
Finally, on the fourth day, they reached the ruined farm that the Axolotl Men had made their home. The party staked the place out for the night, figuring out that while some Axolotls were staying in the remaining buildings, others were hiding underneath a burnt-out ruin in the far back. Milo found the trap door, and the party marched down... only to find 8 Axolotl Men and Ók, their leader, at the bottom of the steps! Both parties stared at one another, stunned, before the first line tried to rush down the stairs and separate the Axolotls into two groups.
Jang, a hired youth, was slain immediately by an Axolotl's spear, his lantern clattering to the ground, then Surya, a little person from the club fighting circuit, ran in to fill the gap, followed by Gasthire the Elf. Gasthire split one Axolotl from groin to shoulder, and Milo put an arrow through another's head from his spot on the stairs. The party is desperate to improve their 2 for 1 kill ratio, and hopefully backup will arrive in the form of a Dwarf cleric when we meet again in two weeks.

For anyone curious, I used Dyson Logos' Herlihy Farm map and background (group of monstrous humanoid hunted by a Paladin of their own kind) as inspiration! I've also added a hidden underground temple to the map, generated loosely with the Barrowmaze crypt generator.
