  1. Just watching the MeWe video... its not intended to be for large scale groups just "your closest friends" as a supplement to FB, Twitter etc.

It's not going to deal well with folks who have hundreds of people they deal with daily here on Googleplus or run community sized groups with a thousand plus members from what the video shows.

Its really more of a phone app then a full social system.

  2. dunno, looking at it, got some of the functionality of g+, personal feed and groups, not sure if groups have limits

  3. Arturs Leitans well either they are describing their own product wrong (which sort of implies its for your 20 best buddies) or not. Someone with an account should dig around and see what the limits are and if there are some problems before a mass exodus.

  4. Joseph Teller it might be better to post in group about that, itl gain more traction

  6. I have posted there... but as usual there are folks who don't watch the video and pay attention to what is said.

Anything thats mostly a phone app is useless as far as I am concerned, since I don't even own a cell phone (I have a laptop and a wireless Android pad for my computing needs. I use a landline when I need a phone.

  7. Joseph Teller um, its a web app, and there is tabletop group of 1000+ members

  8. Arturs Leitans so it does have some community functions then, and not just the stuff thats in the video?

  9. Joseph Teller i havent really looked at the video tbh, but it feels like a bastard offspring off facebook and g+ in some sense . people are learning ins and outs now

  10. I think that the opinion of McGrogand should be a deciding factor

  11. I am very sad about the demise of G+, but in retrospect I think most of us thought it would happen sooner or later given Google's track record with these things. I will investigate other options for this group - MeWe or otherwise - and see what can be done.

  12. Reddit was where I thought the RPG community would be before I discovered subs like r/invisiblesunrpg were sparsely populated and the whole community was here. I strongly recommend everyone give reddit a shot (there’s already community infrastructure in place) and supplement with the excellent communities avaialable on Discord.

  13. reddit again has a very hostile Alt-right presence

  14. Joseph Teller in my experience that has not at all been an issue in focused interest subs. Plus, you can tailor your feed and block specific users pretty easy.

  15. Eamon Mulholland no thanks. I am risk adverse.

  16. Joseph Teller the Internet is what it is. There’s no big/popular website where you can be surrounded by only the people you choose. But! There are certainly websites that give users the right tools to have positive experiences. I hate the alt-right, but IMHO it’s best to make community decisions based on which service has the best features and usability vs rumors about whether people you hate might be lurking on some fraction of its millions of pages. YouTube is full of weird freaky shit but we all use that right?

  17. The community can make its own decisions, but I believe in informed decisions.

MeWe had two founders, one liberal and one conservative. The Liberal is no longer there, forced out. The remaining founder is a a favorite of the Alt-Right and wooing the folks banned from Twitter and Facebook for their activities on those platforms.

No amount of features, to me, is worth being there when that nest of hornets turns into a legal mess a year or two down the road.

Understand I don't hate the ALt-Right I FEAR THEM as they are armed, dangerous self proclaimed fascists. I had family members who left Europe to flee fascists who gave us WW2.

  18. Joseph Teller To be clear, I'm not advocating MeWe, I'm advocating Reddit.

  19. Not a fan of Reddit myself but I’m down to move wherever the majority does as long as the site doesn’t have CP subforums tucked away like Reddit use to.
