Finished my 5e version of the giant cockroach, and used a program my daughter told me about, Prisma, to get a cool look for that harlequin roach picture.
The following is my version of the 5e giant cockroach.

Challenge: ¼ (50 XP)
Giant cockroaches are more skittish than an actually scaredy cat. Those not being herded will find refuge in tight crevasses preferably near water and prefer to search for food under the cover of darkness. An animal handling check is at disadvantage for those not ulufo.
Those from the ulufo caste who use treats have advantage at gaining wild roaches for their herd. The roach treats are said to be a mix of seaweed, honey and sewer slime, but it's recipe is kept among the herders.
I got a long ways to go to convert more to 5e, so if anyone has already started this please speak up.
Nice!
ReplyDeleteMind if I share this?
ReplyDeleteI like the special abilities, great flavor.
ReplyDeleteDavid McGrogan go for it
ReplyDeleteEdit: I purposely did not give them an attack. Trying to imagine them attacking, all I kept coming back to was them just being scavengers. I like the parts I put about animal handling, because I can see a mission for low levels there. Help capture some giant cockroaches to help a herder in your social circles. I think that side quest writes itself.
